Our Services

SOME Pit does not have a shelter.  SOME Pit is made up of a small
group of volunteers that assists shelters, rescue groups, and families
in need.  At this time, SOME Pit does not accept owner surrendered
dogs.  If you have a dog that you need to re-home, please read
this.

Pit Bull 101 for Pros:  This two hour seminar teaches shelter workers
and ACOs how to identify good adoption candidates, support them
while they are in their care at the shelter, talk to the public about the
breed, and match the dogs with adoptive families that are the best fit
for the breed.  This presentation is intended for those who work
directly with animals, such as Animal Care Techs, as well as those who
work directly with the public, such as Front Desk staff and Adoption
Counselors.  Contact
Jessica for information on this presentation.

Pit Bull 101 for Pros Outline

Pit Bull 101 for the Public: The goal of this FREE one hour seminar
is to address the public’s concerns about Pit Bulls by discussing
misconceptions about the breed, as well as encouraging adopters to
consider adding a Pit Bull to their families.  This is the perfect event for
potential Pit Bull adopters, shelter volunteers, Pit Bull owners, and
those that believe the myths about the breed; our presentation will
help set the record straight by providing the real scoop on Pit Bulls!

NEW Programs currently being developed for 2010
“The Pit Bull for Pros 101
seminar, staff edition, was
extremely informative and
practical towards our goal to
serve the needs of the many
bully breeds that find
temporary sanctuary here at
the shelter.  SOME Pit!
provided insight on areas
from identifying bully breeds
from the point of intake, to
properly educating adopters
for loving, permanent
matchmaking.  The seminar
was encouraging, uplifting
and the shelter has already
implemented key elements
from the seminar.  Thank you,
SOME Pit!”
